Internet Under Attack

Anyone who knows me very well is aware that I listen to a lot of talk radio.  (Some might say too much!)  Public Radio is my preferred source of news, however, I do listen to some of the right and left-wing talking heads.

On Saturdays, my local Clear-Channel affiliate (WTVN), has a four hour block of open phones.  The callers are 98% Christian Conservatives, and a great deal of them are as articulate as a rock.  In fact, it may be worth dedicating an entire post to this microcosm of the talk radio community, but this has little to do with my point.

While listening to the radio two weeks ago, one astute listener brought to my attention The Cybersecurity Act of 2009.   Her accusations were that:

Der Fuehrer, Herr Obama, mochte 'Free Speech' und 'Democracy' zu toten.  Er Hasst America!

I have decided in this maiden voyage of ATFTF, to describe in some detail this 52 page piece of legislation.

(Little did I realize how difficult this would be...)

Techno stands for Technology

There was an era in my life were I wanted to be sound engineer.  My dream was to sit Front of House and push faders for Radiohead, but I would have been happy just to the Restraint DJ Sound Tech.  I even began an internship at a local venue and worked as an electronics tech for the Athletics Department.

I think about it occasionally.  Where would I be right now had I continued along that path?  Dead? possibly.  In jail? More probable.  Some bitter, balding hippie with anemic dreads, who is clasping at his fading youth, while mixing sets perform by young punk sh!theads who insist on playing covers of Green Day because TV and video games siphon off every last ounce of creativity they had?  Most likely.

The Amp is Back

Wow, I have a blog again.  I guess its been three or four years since I had left my ramblings on the net for anyone to comment on.  And by anyone, I pretty much mean Fresh and C$.  For now, I think I will ponder ways to best utilize this medium...

However, with a revitalized blog, I need to spice up the persona.  Our culture seems to be speeding up, and condensing names.  Maybe two syllables is too much for a name.  From now on its; The Amp....

Damn it, that is two syllables.  Ok, I guess I will just stick with opamp, but I format is getting a face lift.
