So, today is my bday and I thought I would post a truly pimp picture along with a great song. After 30 years, I have learned a few things and forgotten even more. But, don't worry y'all, I will keep on, keepin' on. Substitute a 0 for the 8 in the opening line in Kid Loco's "A Grand Love Theme" off a "A Grand Love Story" and enjoy. Sheng ri kuai le!

Today, I write in honor of Ray Johnson. A truly original artist and genuinely crazy (in a good, artistic way) fella. In order to try and properly understand Johnson's contribution to the world aesthetic, please see, "How to Draw a Bunny" a captivating documentary that attempts to encapsulate Johnson's startling different view of the world. What recording artist could possibly match Ray, you ask? Let's go with Apt. 223, off First Come, First Served by Kool Keith, a.k.a Matthew, a.k.a Black Elvis, a.k.a Dr. Doom. Dr. D serves up crazy ass flows as only he can - very hungry. KK ain't for the faint of heart, so be prepared for some colorful language if you decide to download.

Tuesdays with C

So, what to compose today? One of my most hated books(and Lissers') is Tuesdays with Morrie. It is a sap sandwich piled in between two sappy slathered pieces of sap, topped with sappy sauce. What better way to fight against such crap than to post a picture of the antithesis in action - Vitamin S this past weekend at 'Palooza '05. As far as a tune, well, I thought it only fitting that I post some hard-hitting rhymes with a hella propa beat - off Outsidaz/Tonya Von Split 12" - here is Rain or Shine. Have a super Tuesday, kiddies!

Space is Dumb

moon.jpgI have so many questions about current events, but alas, no answers. Obviously, I am still trying to figure out how blowing up innocent people gives one an afterlife pass to 300 virgins and eternal bliss. Also, why did that Brazilian fella run from the Bobbies if he was innocent? Seems like if the cops were running after me with guns drawn I would ask why - wait a second. Why do we allow our politicians to spend $33 Billion - yes, kiddies, 33 BILLION to continue to fund NASA. Doesn't it stand to reason that we have more pressing problems down here that those considerable funds could alleviate, not to mention the minds that are thinking about space shuttles that could be thinking about ways to help EARTH? I've had it - let's listen to a song...Considering our topic, how about some Digable Planets? Where I'm From remixed.

Pensive Saturday

sunset20.jpgAfter the last post of upbeat goodness from Devo, I think it only prudent to post some reflective songs. The first being, "You Cut Her Hair" from Tom McRae, off of his self-titled 2001 release. The second, "Teen Angst" is by M83. The original version can be found on "Before the Dawn Heals Us." So, find a quiet place where you like to reflect and listen...

So, in honor of my good friend Fresh, I thought I would post some music to mark my entrance into the blogging world. And what, my fine-feathered friends, should I post? Well, there are so many bands that have shaped my musical tastes, but none more fun than Devo. Yes, jocko-homo, Devo. Enjoy a sample from oh,no! it's Devo...

Still trying to figure out how to post a stupid picture. When and if I succeed it will be a gem...

I am not going to worry too much about the structure of this bad boy. So, many of my thoughts will reflect the day in which I write. Being that it is Sunday and I just left another weekend behind, I thought I should reflect on weddings. Yep, you guessed it. I attended yet another wedding of my college friends on Saturday. And while it was super to see everyone I can't help but think about how yesterday I was 19 and I was getting drunk with those people. Now I am two weeks from turning 30 - how quick it all goes. Sometime between the buffet and the opening of the bar I couldn't help but wax nostalgic on those sweet college times when my biggest conundrum was whether to play foosball or go to the park. Sweet Jesus.
