C$ doesn't normally like to get political, but considering the
temperature of our times, well, I have to get involved. The world is
always on the brink - it's been on the brink since I was a shawrty when
good 'ol Reagan was in the White House. Do I truly believe that Obama
will be terribly different than Bushy, well, yes. Will he make us look
better on the world stage? Yes, I think so. Does that matter? Who the
hell knows. Honestly, I look at politics as giant pendulum. Republican
crazies swing one way, bleeding heart liberals swing the other.
Somewhere, I'm trapped (and I bet many of you) fall in the middle. And
so it goes.All I know is the Ruskies are linking up with the Venezuelans to perform naval maneuvers, largely to piss of the US of A. It will work, but ultimately will that be the end of us? Doubtful. One thing I can guarantee is that my life won't change that drastically - unless one of these power- hungry folks finally goes too far.

I know im usually a very positve and open minded guy, but im going to be a wee bit cynical here. We (average Joe making less then say $150k) are taking it HARD. And im not talking about the kind of good hard with all kinds of candles, incense, and astro glide. Im talking about prison shower, first time, no foreplay, no lube. Its a sham that 1: total deregulation led to the culmination of these downward spiraling events i.e. failing world financial markets 2: Obscenely rich individuals will most likely walk away from failed and bought out (by our money) companies only to manipulate and ruin other markets/companies 3:You and I are footing the bill for these poor financial decisions (suspect lending practices) and people's inability to live within their means (people unable to afford a $500,000 home loan).
Oh and a multi-trillion dollar war that we entered with an "open road map". Thats a plan? Nice Bush you friggin dick.

Your description is a colorful as the gaseous cloud forever emanating from your b-hole, STLJ. Yes, it is hard to feel sorry for anyone involved in this. It's a pretty simple concept, don't spend money that you don't have. I am guilty of this, but my $2K worth of credit card debt is being paid off - with a 0% balance transfer. I find it quite funny that we mock the people that venture to the cash for check - with substantial fees - the credit cards are doing the same thing to y'all. Just not as big a gouge, but it is virtually the same idea. Sad. Oh so sad.
oh boy, a political conversation on c101. i'm not sure what my world has come to. but, if we're on the subject...the gov't got us in the isht by meddling in our business. gov't set up fannie & freddie to give loans out to those whe cant afford because money was cheap & readily available...gov't driven loans to those that cant affort because it was cheap & potential huge return. govt getting in our crap is bodering socialism. the markets need to correct themselves. we live in a capitalistic society; biz needs to learn from their mistakes, let the smart & savvy survive & everthing will be valued correctly again. houses dont appreciate this much & we are correcting it. people w/bad credit shouldnt get home loans & we are correcting it.
the govt stepping in lets big biz know they can continue risking practices & get bailed out by govt. they need to lose & learn & then come back stronger. my 2 cents that probably dont make sense.
