Being that I rely on Charlie Rose for most of my current events, I wait for him to talk about something before I really pay attention. Well, Charlie was talking to a phalanx of experts yesterday about the latest scourge - Big Bad Bird Flu (BBBF).
If this sucka morphs, we are screwed...maybe. Apparently, we are supposed to experience a pandemic every 30-35 years. I did not know that. The last few have been jokes, relatively speaking. In fact, every year about 60,000 people in the U.S. succumb to the flu. But, since the majority of yearly deaths are just old people, who cares? Right, Thunderpants?
The most lethal pandemic in recent history was in 1918 when 60 million cashed out. Now, many people may argue modern medicine will see us through BBBF, so even if it does happen, who cares, get a shot. Well, apparently, since this strain doesn't exist yet, we can't create a vaccine for it. At least not until quite a few get clipped. That is, of course, if it even happens. Might just be like Y2K. In the meantime, I will be living in fear.
Or, I won't give a isht and listen to Cake. Just like RFO.
Wheels
Race Car Ya-Yas

pink? kitties?
chicago has changed you, cameron.
You don't like it?
oh no, it's divine.
Regardless of pink/kitties, gotta give ya some music feedback, esp Cake. I'm diggin "Wheels". Fun bass lines. I'm new to the world of Cake although I did inadvertently see them in concert. I liked them, but didn't know them. Call it the Esteban Syndrome. I think I watched a couple songs then went to get a drink, waiting for Beck to come on. dammit! I kick myself now for schmucking out, but it was an overwhelming lineup for a little girl from Ohio.
Anyone else committed such debauchery? I suppose everyone has stories about great bands we were physically present to hear, and somehow missed...anyone? Bueller?
Here's mine (Arrrr!): KROQ Acoustic Christmas, LA, December 14, 1996 -

Another subject, but I have a question, o' musical ones: I recently won some money (thanks B.W.Sox), so I'm finally buying an IPOD. Any suggestions on which one is best for the $$$? Is there an alternative to IPOD w/ MP3 players to consider? (Big commitment for a poor girl. Must make right decision.)
Can a wigga get a table dance? Say what? say what?
[4] Buy a Sony Walkman and rock it like 1985.
[5] Mr.Fresh: Yeah, I considered that option, but then I would need to budget in a dual cassette player with high-speed dub to make my mix tapes.
Thanks for the input, though (yes, I know-Ya mamma...).
Now I wish I'd spent more time at Cake's set at Lollapalooza last summer. I chose the Bravery instead who were mildly dissapointing.
What a diverse showcase of music just off the radar that weekend was. Certain to be even better next year and you couldn't ask for a better setting than Grant Park. Great excuse for a summer trip to Chicago.
Jules, for my money I'd go with the 30g ipod video. $300 I think. Like it or not Apple owns the market for a reason. Their product delivers the goods. You'll be amazed you lived so long without it.
I suppose worrying about which piece of electronic equipment to purchase is silly and irrelevant, since we all are going to likely parish from BBBF.
At least I, for one, am gonna go out rokin.
[7]
Woah! Sadens in da house!
While cake delivers instant gratification, choosing bravery over cake seems quite appropriate and respectable.
I'll check out the 30g this weekend. Thanks for the tip. (again...Ya mamma.)
[8]
parish, perish...whatever, perhaps both.
Thunderpants told me about his "big wheel" post and I was suddenly hip to the blogging phenomenon. I dipped my toe in the water and found the temperature to be just right.
Nice work Cam.
Bravery CD rocks but live show was a let down. I was hoping Brandon Flowers from the Killers was going to get on stage and start a fight (he says the Bravery is a rip off of the Killers' sound, kinda has a point) Guys wearing eyeliner in a fistfight, now that's a show.
where are the kitties?
CAMERON!
WHERE ARE THE KITTIES!!!!?????
[12]
I was deeply saddened as well, Bone.
What's up C$? Did we go too far? We were just a little shocked at first, but deep down we love your pussies.
On the Ipod tip, I pretty much decided to get a 300g removable laptop hard drive with USB. I'm waiting until after Christmas for the maamajamma. Maybe they'll come out with a Nano with more memory this season. Or maybe Dell will step up. (Wishful thinking?)
[13] hahahaha.
yes, cam has multiple pussies. nice one ms. duck.
[15]
kinky. imagine the possibilities.
i accept you, C$, and all your pink pussies. you don't have to hide them away from the world out of shame and due to public ridicule. we are your friends and we love you. it wasn't right to treat you like a two-pussied Quasimodo.
This brings up an even more intersting question. Would you rather have two pussies or would you rather be Patrick Swayze? I would choose Swayze because he has fallopian tubes and gills. He is of the rare species, girlfish. So rare, in fact, that he's endangered. Being endangered (and because he knows martial arts)no one can kill him. Having two pussies is so common these days that anyone could kill you. Therefore, once again, I choose Swayze, so that no one could kill me.
I accidentally left my medication at home this morning. Pass the potatoes.
Hey! Hey. Would you rather be the leading scientist in your field or would you rather have the bird flu. Hey, if you were a hot dog and you were starving to death would you eat yourself. I know I would. I'd smother myself in brown mustard and I'd be delicious. Thanks to Will Ferrell as Harry Carey for that. It was really nice. I really laughed alot when I heard that.
Wow. Pink Pussies? Potatoes? You people are freaky-deaky. Jules, don't worry, my skin is thick. Everywhere, if you know what I'm sayin'. Mr. Sadens, welcome to the party pal.
Yes. Thank God for your thick labia (or is it labium?).
Oops...it happened again. I went to far, didn't I? dang.
I don't know how many of you are hip to the Arcade Fire these days but they are my favorite band of the last few months, hell all year I would say. Despite the fact that they sell out shows in hours now, they are still obscure and cool enough to do something like this. Which is all the reason more to love em.

Wow, I was just listening to the Arcade Fire and David Bowie playing "Wake Up." How strange.
where did you find that track? I heard about his cameo at their show in Central Park and radio City on but can't find it on line.
