Restless Leg Syndrom (RLS) - No Laughing Matter (NLM)

This morning I was eating my Fiber One (good for the poops, no?) and looking at Katie Couric when all of the sudden I was jolted from my reverie. A commercial with a serious voice over began speaking about Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS).

I then focused with laser beam attention because finally I knew I was not alone. In fact..."Up to 8% of the U.S. population may have this sensorimotor condition. Many people have a mild form of the disorder, but RLS severely affects the lives of millions of individuals."

You see, I have had bouts with what I had self-diagnosed as "crazy legs" for many a year. I had previously attributed this affliction to my sometimes hyper-activity. I knew, however, that my problem was also hereditary, as all my sisters and mother often had bouts of the "crazy legs" as well.

But, where I once was lost, now I am found, thanks to the RLS Foundation. I have also learned that next week is RLS awareness week and Sept. 23 is RLS awareness day. I am, however, left to wonder how we will celebrate - will there be a march?

Let's listen to R. Kelly's "Step In the Name of Love" off The Chocolate Factory in honor of my diagnosis.

Awww . . . it looks like our little C$ has found a place where he truly belongs. Do these people also have Random Punching Syndrome (RPS)? I think I speak for everyone not with you right now when I say, I miss you and your tender yet violent brand of lovin'.

wow i think i have RLS as well. I just figured it was a nervous habit. we have so much in common!

one question. why have you been hiding your crazy legs from me all these years?

I'm glad that your affliction has been identified. Now the healing can begin. I just hope that over all these years your third leg hasn't suffered, too, if you know what I mean. Also, C, I was just busting your balls yesterday. I would never work another day in my life if the opportunity presented itself. I would let my already rotund belly grow larger and larger until eventually I could provide a fleshy, flabby shelter for all of those less fortunate people displaced by the huricane. Finally, I have devised a way to enjoy the manna and help the masses at the same time.

To everyone reading,

My beautiful wife just turned me on to a priceless gem. Do a google search for "failure" and look at the very first entry. This is the reason why I will never use Yahoo again. Priceless!

my coworker has rls too! maybe she is your soulmate. honestly her "condition" is maddening. her chair squeaks all freaking day.

did you watch the today show wedding cam? i cried during their vows.

beef who are you talking about? and why isn't she my soul mate since i have the condition too?

Wow, this is a diagnosed condition?
I always thought I just had to go to the bathroom really bad & did not want to get out of my seat.

C$,

The Dewers will make you all screwy, asshole!

Get in where you fit in brotha.
Remember, this is only one piece of the puzzle. You must continue searching for what's really wrong with you. Don't let next weeks awareness festivities lead you off track.

I wouldn't dare Juice. Thanks for the strong advice. Looking forward to 9/30 - will I be seeing you or just Dale?

I'm debating on that one...my mom's going to be with me. Do you see the dilema I'm having?

Just saying hi in the blogosphere.
Don't know if you read old post's comments but wanted to say i think i have RLS too. Although i need a definition. Is it where you're laying on the couch and you feel like if you don't kick them or get up and walk you're going to go nuts? Kind of a strange tingly feeling...not pins and needle feeling though? Or do i have a new condition.
Anyway, my ears perked up when i heard the commercial.
