The Black Keys are getting ready to release a new album. It’s called Attack And Release and will be out sometime in March or April although, as we all know, release dates are irrelevant. There has been a lot of Internet cob-knobbling about the fact that Dangermouse is producing the record. People are all like, “What will it sound like?” “How different will it be?” “I’m afraid of change,” and “Hip hop and rock don’t mix!” I ain’t concerned, in fact I think it has come time for me to start hatin' on my Ohio homeboys. I really should have started hatin' on them after their last record but I’m a bit sentimental. I know you’re probably asking yourself, “But why, Fresh? Why must you now hate the Black Keys?” The answer is simple children: I’m cool and they sold out. (Plus it is waaaaaaaay past their hipster expiration date. I should have discarded them as soon as they achieved any measure of success). The new single from Attack And Release, “Strange Times” is out now. You can listen to it on the band’s MySpace page if you have no qualms about not being hip.

Yo. Some dude going by the name of AmpLive remixed Radiohead’s In Rainbows and gave it away for free but this pissed off some folks associated with the band so the dude had to pull it but now said dude is allowed to give away his remixes again, which is cool because I like Radiohead and being a bit of a completist, this saves me a lot of work tracking this isht down even though they are just remixes I had to it, thankfully these remixes are well executed and produced featuring the likes of Del the Funky Hompsapien, Too $hort and Charli2na.Download It: Here
Finding a new band is kind of like dating someone new. You get all excited and giddy at the prospect of being around them. You listen intently to whatever they say. You do your research and find out as much as you can about them. And then you’re smitten. Or you’re not – because let’s face it; some bands suck and some people are just insane.Recently, I’ve been spending a lot of time with Plants and Animals and their four-song EP With/Avec. Here’s a list of descriptors concerning their music that you might find relevant: The intersection of Radiohead’s Amnesiac and Paul Simon’s Graceland. Kind of jammy. Very noisy. Avant rock. Jazz aesthetics applied to psychedelica with folk used as the adhesive. Canadian.I can’t tell you how happy these four little songs have made me. I just hope P&A;’s full length doesn’t turn out to be bat-shit crazy and set my couch on fire. Their LP, Parc Avenue will be out on either February 26 or March 25.Web Site: HereOrder: Online HereStuff to Sample: From Plants & Animals’ EP With/Avec “Lola Who?” and “Faerie Dance”
