You Call This A Party?

I get scared when Newsweek (yes, I have a subscription, does that make me unhip?) dabbles in bringing new bands, like Bloc Party, to the unsuspecting masses of ‘Merica (AKA my parents, who also subscribe).

So now I’m weirded out thinking about my parents listening to the new Bloc Party album Silent Alarm. Because if they were listening to Bloc Party, they might also wear hip clothes and debate which new club to go to tonight. And if they were like that, would I have turned out uber-cool by their influences, because right now I’m kinda hip (sometimes) or would I have turned into the complete opposite, growing into a stuck up, preppy republican who loves NASCAR?

So here’s to Newsweek for trying.

But this brings up an interesting dilemma for the hipsters. Is Bloc Party unhip because Newsweek says they are hip? I mean, Bloc Party is hip. But am I unhip for agreeing with Newsweek? Is it now hip to like Newsweek? Or is it hip to dislike Newsweek, but like Bloc Party and find it ironic that Bloc Party was featured in Newsweek?

Huh.

Concerning Newsweek: Even a blind squirrel gets a nut every now and then. I will have to put a little more stock in their opinions in the future.

This album is really good.

[1] Yes, but what about the hipsters? The hipsters, man, the hipsters.

I'm having a hard time not listening to this album. Its been like that for a couple days. I listen to it, listen to something else and then immediately go back to Bloc Party.

My advice to the hipsters. Quit trying to be hip. It was my Dad that introduced me to The Beatles, The Doors, Pink Floyd...

Furthermore, I enjoy spending time with my parents. There are few things better in life than going to a ballgame with my Dad, having drinking a beer and gawking at women.

I know I am not alone on this one, cause one of our good friend's Dad attended the Modest Mouse show with us last july in Royal Oak. Didn't you, and that same friend go to Detroit with his Dad to see another good Rock n' Roll show?

Moral of the story: All parents do not necessarily suck and/or have bad taste in music.

boy, that there comment sure were written good. I gradumated at that there top o my clarse
